How To Earn Money As A Kid
But how do we protect ourselves against video piracy, which is why the online video business is constantly growing every day, its fair to say that almost everyone who has access to a computer has either signed up to sites like Metacafe or Youtube or watched videos from one of these websites?
Although Google is trying to combat video piracy by using the YouTube Video Identification Software this only allows the copyright holder to 'claim their content' this does not stop people downloading and ripping the video directly onto their computer, this is against the law as the artist or the artist's agent own the copyright and each time the video is ripped the copyright law is breeched. Occasionally for a small fee, music videos which are hosted on websites like Youtube can be ripped for free, i suspect the music industry is taking the biggest hit and will continually see a drop in sales as the word gets round. Online videos which are hosted on websites are constantly being 'Downloaded' and 'Ripped' by the general public, the fact is it is impossible to protect ourselves from video piracy.
So if a musician released a new song and used Youtube to promote the single this could be on people's hard drive just hours after hearing it on the radio, this website does not download the entire video it extracts the audio from the video and saves it directly onto your computer. They do not even ask for registration so anyone can use it and we have no idea who is ripping your video right now, as an example I found a website the other day http://www.vidripscript.com which allows users to 'Rip Online Video's' for free.
Can Google and Youtube do more to protect the original copyright holders or is the internet world as we know it to large to police?
